Good implementation, OK A.I., some crashes
This is a better implementation than a couple of Hearts apps that I tried previously. I have not tested the online portion yet, but the computer players are pretty good. Still, the artificial intelligence of those players could be a little better, it is way too easy to shoot the moon, and the passes that you receive are predictable. I imagine it must be very hard to program a Hearts game to have truly sophisticated computer-based opponents, but it is clearly possible. For example, the Hearts game that comes with Windows XP seems to have smarter opponents than those in Hearts Pro.
The biggest problem is that this game crashes about 15% of the time. That can be really annoying if you are deeply into a long game.
